Group Exercise Instructors

We are looking for Group Exercise instructors for the DeLand Family YMCA to lead Zumba, Silver Sneakers, Yoga and Spinning classes. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading group classes, providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness.

Job Specific Functions:

Building effective relationships with members and helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

Keeping accurate class attendance records.

Assures that the group exercise studio is clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.

Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Prerequisites:

All instructors must be certified Group Exercise, CPR and AED upon hire. First Aid within 90 days of hire.

Summer Counselors

The DeLand Family YMCA is looking for Summer Day Camp Counselors to work with our YMCA kids.  Our summer counselors are responsible for achieving the goals and objectives of the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA by serving as mentor, guardian and protector of the children in the program with first emphasis being safety, then character development and fun.

Our summer counselors are positive role models who practice the YMCA character values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility) and perform all assigned duties with energy and enthusiasm.

Job specific functions include but are not limited to:

Work cooperatively with all day camp staff in planning and carrying out diverse program experiences.

Assume leadership of the group of participants assigned to his/her charge.  Mentor, plan, teach and uphold rules and safety standards associated with the YMCA.

Prepare needed materials and supplies for each day’s activities and manage supplies within the framework of a budget.

Take responsibility for the continuous cleanliness of the day camp areas and the safety of all equipment used in the program.

Remain constantly alert for problems affecting the health and safety of all participants, report all safety and risk problems and assist in correcting any problems as they occur.

Use good judgment under pressure, with the ability to make timely, sound informed decisions.

There are training requirements for these positions.  All positions are part-time and pay is $8.25 per hour.  Minimum age: 18.  HS/Equivalent.

AfterSchool Childcare Counselors

The DeLand Family YMCA is looking for experienced childcare counselors for our afterschool program.  Our Afterschool Enrichment Program is part of the YMCA’s history of dedication to youth and children’s services. KidZone Childcare

We are hiring in our KidZone! We are looking for an energetic, positive individual to look after our Y kids while family works out. Applicants must be dependable, caring, love children and respond to their needs in a safe and effective manner.

Our child care programs provide a nurturing environment under the supervision of our qualified, professional staff.

Job Specific Functions:

Lifeguards

Job-Specific Functions:

Responsible for the safety of the aquatic facility patrons and the prevention of accidents and aquatic incidents. Scan zone vigilantly using the 10 x 10 rule and perform rescues and life-saving techniques when needed.  Render first aid as needed throughout the facility.

Be inspection ready in staff uniform, with a whistle, rescue tube and strap in ready position, pocket mask and in the proper location for programming.

Respond to members’ inquiries and concerns.

Assist in maintaining the overall general care and cleanliness of the aquatic facility. Keep drains clean, gutter free of debris, pool bottom brushed, and overall deck cleanliness.

Inspect aquatic facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions and equipment.

Maintain and check water chemistry, daily weather conditions, and incidents and report to supervisor.

Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies in accordance with the emergency action plan (EAP), including whistle codes. Practice EAP regularly.  Understand specific responsibilities during a fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.

Complete all assigned records and reports.

Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

Get substitution for shifts when unavailable.

Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to swim 500 yards, tread water for at least two minutes using legs only, surface dive head first and feet first and swim underwater at least 15 feet.

Able to sit for extended periods of time including in an elevated chair.

Sight – Observe all assigned zones of the water area and be ready to perform rescues.

Hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment with background noise.

Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances, and communicate swiftly and effectively to emergency personnel over the phone and in person.

JOB-SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, TALENTS

Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard rescue techniques.

An active and dedicated interest in creating a safe pool experience for all.

Strong verbal communication skills.

Sports Supervisor

DeLand Family YMCA

 

We are looking for a reliable, energetic individual to become our Sports Supervisor at our DeLand Family YMCA.

The Sports Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, expanding and evaluating the specific adult and youth sports programs including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tee ball and specialty sports camps offered at the YMCA.

Job Specific Functions include:

Promotion, administration and leadership in all sports programs.

Assist the Senior Program Director make sports calendar, schedules and rosters.

Coordinate locations for sports by building community relations.

Recruit, coach and train staff and volunteers.

Conduct volunteer coaches training.

Develop and implement program promotion and marketing.

Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is for youth and adult sports.  Weeknights and weekends are expected.  25 hours per week @ $12 per hour.

Aquatics Supervisor

We are looking for an Aquatics Supervisor at the DeLand Family YMCA.  Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Supervisor is responsible for the administration and coordination of aquatics as well as marketing, promotion and innovative programming for our Aquatics Department.

Job Specific Functions:

Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.

Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.

Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools.  Secures and schedules pool facilities.  Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.

Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR training.

Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes and swim team practices and meets.

Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

Assists in the hiring of new staff when needed.  Including new hire packet processing and administration of Drug and Background screening paperwork.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility to quickly reach a member/participant or situation to prevent harm.

Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of all members/participants.

Be able to work outside and be in a natural environment that requires being in the sun/heat.

Prerequisites:

Minimum age:  21

BS or BA in related field

Certifications/Licenses:  Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, O2, and Swim Lesson Instructor certifications are required.  Lifeguard Instructor, Swim Lesson Trainer, CPR/AED, First Aid and O2 are preferred.

2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Custodian/Maintenance

The DeLand Family YMCA is looking for a part-time Custodian for Camp Winona The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal.

Job-Specific Functions :

Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, and general cleaning.

Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.

Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.

Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

PREREQUISITES

Minimum Age : 18

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.

Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.

Wellness Staff

The Four Townes (Deltona) Family YMCA is looking for an energetic, positive person to work in our wellness department. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Wellness Staff is responsible for instructing and reinforcing proper strength training procedures and maintaining a safe workout environment for all members, participants, guests and staff.

The core functions of this position are:

To take personal responsibility for creating, building and enhancing relationships throughout the wellness area. To understand and instruct on the proper use of cardio and strength training equipment and free weights. Instruct members and guests in strength training principles, procedures and exercise techniques. Emphasize all components of wellness (warm-up, cardiovascular, strength, stretch, cool down). Promote the Wellness Center through personal example and member interaction. Constantly observe the Wellness Center to ensure proper use of the equipment and enforce rules and policies for safety of the members, including proper cleaning of equipment after individual use. Assure that the wellness areas are clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.

This course is for Chair Yoga; this class is a gentle form of yoga. Yoga is practiced sitting in a chair or standing using the chair for support. The chair is used due to the difficulty in getting down and up off the floor. You will teach students many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and ways of relaxation with the aid of a chair.

Job Specific Functions:

Building effective relationships with members and helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

Keeping accurate class attendance records.

Assures that the group exercise studio is clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.

Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Prerequisites:

All instructors must be certified Group Exercise, CPR, and AED upon hire.  First Aid within 90 days of hire.

Education:  HS or equivalent

These are all part-time positions and hours are flexible based on

Personal Trainers

We are looking for an energetic and fun Personal Trainer to join our Holly Hill Family YMCA team.  This candidate must have good sales experience to build their own clientele.  We are looking for someone who is able to create and implement Small Group Training classes along with the ability to gain one-on-one clientele.

Personal Trainer will lead a heart rate training program out of our Holly Hill branch.  They need previous experience in PT and Small Group Training models.  The candidate should have exceptional people skills and be able to command a room and group.

 Youth Sports Official

The Ormond Beach Family YMCA has an opening in our Youth Sports department. We are looking for an energetic, positive individual that can referee all youth sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tee ball and specialty sport camps.

Lifeguard

Job-Specific Functions:

Responsible for the safety of the aquatic facility patrons and the prevention of accidents and aquatic incidents. Scan zone vigilantly using the 10 x 10 rule and perform rescues and life-saving techniques when needed.  Render first aid as needed throughout the facility.

Be inspection ready in staff uniform, with a whistle, rescue tube and strap in ready position, pocket mask and in the proper location for programming.

Respond to members’ inquiries and concerns.

Assist in maintaining the overall general care and cleanliness of the aquatic facility. Keep drains clean, gutter free of debris, pool bottom brushed, and overall deck cleanliness.

Inspect aquatic facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions and equipment.

Maintain and check water chemistry, daily weather conditions, and incidents and report to supervisor.

Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies in accordance with the emergency action plan (EAP), including whistle codes. Practice EAP regularly.  Understand specific responsibilities during a fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.

Complete all assigned records and reports.

Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

Get substitution for shifts when unavailable.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Able to swim 500 yards, tread water for at least two minutes using legs only, surface dive head first and feet first and swim underwater at least 15 feet.

POSITION SUMMARY

Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Bookkeeper is responsible for working

closely with the Controller and Accountant II in providing support and assistance in the daily functions of

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Functions :

  • Processes check requests and invoices using the accounting software, payments of same, ensuring adequate documentation and correct GL coding.

  • Processes credit card payments and monitors spending to match payment terms.
  • Maintains working relationship with vendors and staff to assist in GL coding and other AP issues.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledger with the general ledger for liability accounts on a monthly or as needed basis.
  • Assist in financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare annual 1099s for vendors and IRS.
  • Maintain and update the budget projection file.
  • Prepares financial reports related to accounts payable.

PREREQUISITES

Minimum Age : 18

Education: Associate’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of the Associate’s Degree.

Property Manager

Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

POSITION SUMMARY

Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Property Manager is responsible for the direct

maintenance and improvement operations of YMCA facilities and vehicles, including preventative

maintenance and related budgets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Functions:

  • Relationship Building –Take personal responsibility for creating, building and enhancing relationships throughout the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA.
  • Customer Service Excellence – Provide excellent customer service and positive communication to all customers, including but not limited to, members, participants, guests, volunteers, and fellow employees, by listening first and responding to their needs in a safe and effective manner.
  • Role Model – Model and encourage the development and practice of the YMCA character values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility), performing all assigned duties with energy and enthusiasm. Abide by all personnel policies and guidelines, follow all reasonable directives issued by leadership, and uphold rules, regulations and safety standards associated with the YMCA.
  • Annual Support Campaign – Provide support for the annual campaign and other special events when possible and as directed.
  • Risk Management –Remain familiar with risk management procedures in the YMCA facility, which include but are not limited to: swimming pool rules and procedures, current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, child abuse prevention, and understanding specific responsibilities during fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.

Job-Specific Functions:

  • Provides coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs for A/C, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Painting.
  • Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
  • Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
  • Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts.., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Develops budgets supporting the preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitors expenditures against budget.
  • Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  • Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.
  • PREREQUISITES

Minimum Age: 21

Education: HS/Equivalent

Certs/Licenses:

Experience: Five or more years’ of experience in facility management or closely related field.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to think, analyze, organize and articulate ideas and strategies independently.
  • Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of all members/participants.
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to work inside and outside, and may require travel to various locations.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work diverse hours.
  • Ability to drive or have access to transportation.

JOB-SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, TALENTS

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
  • Good judgment under pressure, with the ability to make timely and sound, informed decisions.
  • Ability and current license to drive with a record that meets YMCA standards.
  • Familiarity with computers.
  • Skills in supervision, budget management and project management.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
