Member Services Position

DeLand Family YMCA

The DeLand Family YMCA is looking for an outgoing, friendly individual for our Member Services Staff.  Applicant must have positive relationship building skills, provide excellent customer service and be a positive role model and communicator.

Job specific functions are:

Greet members with exceptional customer service, both in person and over the phone, answering questions and providing accurate membership and program information.

Provide and track tours of the facilities and programs.  Promote, sell and accept membership and registration documents.

Collect, document and reconcile money collected during shift.

Respond to customer complaints and work toward a mutually satisfying solution.

Help ensure that the Member Services area and lobby are presentable and safe at all times.

Model and encourage the development and practice of the Y character values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility)

Prerequisites:

Minimum age 18

HS/Equivalent

Compensation:

$8.10 per hour/part time flexible hours (including opening at 5:00 am)

Drug and background screening are required.

Youth Sports Department

Port Orange YMCA

The Port Orange Family YMCA has an opening in our Youth Sports department.  We are looking for an energetic, positive individual that can referee all youth sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tee ball and specialty sports camps.

A perfect candidate is someone who is a great role model, provides excellent customer service and a positive atmosphere for all children to learn and become better athletes.  This person would assist the Sports Supervisor with the promotion of all youth sports programs.   Ensures that all sports equipment is in a safe condition for play.  Empathetically listens, communicates and negotiates understanding when dealing with conflict.  Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance.

This is a part time position and includes free membership.  Compensation based on experience.

Child Care Supervisor

The Four Townes (Deltona) Family YMCA is in need of a Child Care Supervisor.  We are looking for an energetic, positive person who loves children!  Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Child Care Supervisor is responsible for achieving the goals and objectives of the Child Care Program by serving as a mentor, guardian, and protector of the children in the program with first emphasis being safety, then character development and fun.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise all child care staff (scheduling, training, and curriculum).

Work cooperatively with all child care staff in planning and carrying out program experiences that promote an active, healthy lifestyle for participants.

Organize all child care activities.

Responsible for purchases for the department and prepare needed materials and supplies for each day’s activities and manage supplies within the framework of a budget.

Take responsibility for the continuous cleanliness of the child care areas and the safety of all equipment used in the program.

Remain constantly alert for problems affecting the health and safety of all participants, including helping to ensure the established staff-to-child ratio.  Report all safety and risk management problems and assist in correcting problems as they occur.

Follow all established procedures for field trips, ensuring that all participants are continuously accounted for and safe.

Prepare health, behavioral and incident reports (legibly and on the proper forms) as required, including health or safety issues concerning participants as they arrive for the program.

Attend required training within the timeframes set forth in the position’s training plan.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Knowledge, skills, abilities and talents:

Good judgment under pressure with the ability to make timely and sound informed decisions.

Genuine liking and concern for children of all ages.

Enthusiasm for and ability to perform physical activity – both indoor and outdoor – including but not limited to running, playing, swimming and other child related activities.

Creativity in planning and generating age appropriate activities.

Leadership skills in working with children, including the ability to handle difficult children and disciplinary situations, demonstrating self-control, compassion, understanding, problem-solving and assertiveness to assure the safety of all participants.

Skills in sports, nature, arts & crafts and games.

Knowledge of personal limitations and using other resources for relief and assistance.

 

Physical and/or mental requirements:

Ability to move up to 50 lbs in the form of boxes or program supplies.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility to quickly reach a child or situation to prevent harm.

Visual abilities to see participants and staff to ensure their safety and well being.

Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well being of all participants.

 

Prerequisites:

Minimum age – 21

Child Care Director Credential required and CPR, First Aid required.

H.S. or equivalent

40-hour DCF Child Care Training

2-3 years supervisory experience preferred

Drug and background screening are required.

Association Property Manager

The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA is looking for an Association Property Manager.  Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the position incumbent is responsible for the association-wide maintenance, custodial and improvement operations of YMCA facilities, grounds, pools, and vehicles.  This position requires staff supervision and management, preventative maintenance, facility renovations/projects and related budgets for 7 facilities and Corporate office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service and positive communication to all customers (members, participants, guests, volunteers and fellow employees.

Remain familiar with Risk Management procedures in the YMCA facility and outdoor program areas, which include but are not limited to: swimming pool rules and procedures, current required certifications, child abuse prevention and understanding specific responsibilities during a fire, hurricane, tornado or other emergency situations.

Job Specific Functions:

Provides overall management and direction of facility, grounds, pools and vehicle maintenance, including planning, developing and implementing preventative maintenance and oversight of all construction projects.

Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.

Administers and trains staff on the proper use of facility software to track maintenance issues and repairs, preventative maintenance schedules and asset inventory.  Ensures that all maintenance requests are input and tracked through that system.

Ensures completion of repair work and projects in a timely manner.  Oversees all contractors that work in the facilities and grounds.  May request and review bids and recommend selection of contractors and other facility related vendors, including pool chemicals and maintenance.

Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building and code departments to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities, vehicles, pools, and grounds.

Develops budgets supporting the preventative and annual property, pool and vehicle management plans and monitors expenditures against budget.  Works closely with the leadership team at each location to accomplish this.

Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs association property management staff and volunteers.  Reviews and evaluates performance.  Also, provides input and oversight as needed to branch property management staff (part-time maintenance and custodial staff) and may call upon their assistance to complete projects as needed.

Manages all related contracts, including but not limited to the janitorial services contract, landscaping and pool chemicals.

Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA, city, county or state laws and requirements.

Updates facility plans periodically.  Develops an annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs, and develops and manages 3-5 year capital plans continually.

Serves on the Safety Team and helps to ensure risk management in all areas of the association, with a particular focus on facilities grounds and pools.

Actively participates in staff meetings and other related meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum age:  21

Education:  HS diploma or equivalent

Experience:  Five or more years of experience in facility management or closely related field.

Ability to sit, stand, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist and/or reach for extended periods of time.  Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds.

Must be able to work outside and be in a natural environment that may require being in extreme weather conditions including heat and/or cold.

Ability to work diverse hours.

Aquatics Supervisor

 Ormond Beach & Port Orange

We are looking for an Aquatics Supervisor at two of our facilities.  Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Supervisor is responsible for the administration and coordination of aquatics as well as marketing, promotion and innovative programming for our Aquatics Department.

Job Specific Functions:

Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.

Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.

Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools.  Secures and schedules pool facilities.  Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.

Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR training.

Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes and swim team practices and meets.

Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

Assists in the hiring of new staff when needed.  Including new hire packet processing and administration of Drug and Background screening paperwork.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility to quickly reach a member/participant or situation to prevent harm.

Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of all members/participants.

Be able to work outside and be in a natural environment that requires being in the sun/heat.

Prerequisites: 

Minimum age:  21

BS or BA in related field

Certifications/Licenses:  Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, O2, and Swim Lesson Instructor certifications are required.  Lifeguard Instructor, Swim Lesson Trainer, CPR/AED, First Aid and O2 are preferred.

2 years supervisory experience preferred.

After school Counselors – Ormond Beach Family YMCA

The Ormond Beach Family YMCA is looking for experienced child care counselors for our afterschool program.  Our Afterschool Enrichment Program is part of the YMCA’s history of dedication to youth and children’s services. Established to meet the needs of working parents in the community while providing their children a fun, safe, enriching environment that would promote the YMCA’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

We offer a variety of daily activities focusing on academic support, character development, physical fitness and proper nutrition, under the leadership of qualified, professional staff.

Job specific functions:

The applicant must be extremely reliable, outgoing, friendly and love children.

Preferably with DCF 40 hours completed but not a requirement.

20-25 hours per week – Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri from 1-6 and Wed from 12-6. The rate of pay is $8.10 per hour.

Yoga Instructors – Four Townes Family YMCA

We are looking for Yoga Instructors for our Four Townes Family YMCA location.  Guided by the mission of the YMCA, our Yoga Instructor is responsible for leading group classes, providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness.

Job Specific Functions:

Building effective relationships with members and helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

Keeping accurate class attendance records.

Assures that the group exercise studio is clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.

Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Prerequisites:

All instructors must be certified Group Exercise, CPR and AED upon hire.  First Aid within 90 days of hire.

Minimum age: 18

Education:  HS or equivalent

These are all part time positions and hours are flexible based on the schedule.  Compensation is $13 to $19 per hour.
