Our Future

Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain – the Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities.

Help the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA make a lasting impression by becoming a member of our Heritage Club.

What is the Heritage Club

The Heritage Club is made up of people who believe in the mission of the Y and want to ensure that its programs and services will be continued for future generations. Members of the Heritage Club have included the Y in their estate plans and/or designated a gift to the endowment fund, building long-term financial stability to support the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA’s mission.

Our Endowment

The Y’s strategies are only possible through generous support from donors. To ensure that our community continues to be strengthened for decades to come, the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA aims to work with local philanthropists and generous community members to build an endowment fund that will provide programmatic and operating funds when our neighborhood needs it most.

The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA’s endowment fund is managed by our Board of Directors, and it provides lasting support for mission-focused programs and facilities. Planned or current gifts of $10,000 or more may be designated to establish a restricted endowment fund. Gifts of less than $10,000 may be directed to an existing endowment fund or used for unrestricted endowment purposes. Endowment funds may be established for specific programs, exempt staff positions and facilities.

Examples of gifts to the endowment include:

  • Gift Annuities
  • Bequests
  • Estate Gifts
  • Life Insurance Policies
  • Outright Gifts
  • Quasi-Endowed Gifts

Examples of how endowment funds are used to:

  • Establish new programs at the Y
  • Help fund programs that are critical to the health of our community, such as swim lessons
  • Empower the Y to engage in capacity-building activities, including bolstering public support campaigns
  • Award special scholarships and financial assistance to children, adults and families in need
  • Support capital projects in areas of need within our community

To provide for the future of our community, the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA endowment should be $5-10 million, since only 3.5 percent of the endowment’s earnings are expended each year. Currently, the endowment is at approximately $1 million—a great start, but more must be done to help ensure our community’s future!

Please consider becoming part of the Heritage Club today by making a planned gift to the YMCA. Contact Tiffany Dunning at 386-738-9622, extension 314, or tdunning@vfymca.orgfor more information.
