Volusia Senior Learning is a not-for-profit organization offering in-depth high-quality courses on a wide range of topics. Our goal is to enrich the lives of senior citizens in Volusia County. These educational experiences are designed to provide seniors with the chance to stay engaged with ongoing opportunities for learning to promote mental, emotional and social activity needed for healthy aging.

This class is only $30 for 4 – 90-minute sessions payable to Volusia Senior Learning.

Growth and Change in American History 1492-1900

  • Arrival and migrations of early settlers
  • Election of First President and Consitution
  • Expansion Westward
  • Growth to Pre-WW1 Era

Tuesdays in July at the DeLand Family YMCA.

This class will be taught by Carol Ann Mortiz and Lisa Herbster.

Carol and Lisa are life long educations. They have worked many years teaching English as a second language in the college setting. They both look forward to sharing their passion for American History with course attendees.
