Program Director

Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Program Director is responsible for the administration and coordination of sports and wellness as well as marketing and promotion and innovative programming.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Functions:

Job-Specific Functions:

  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands youth sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Responsible for all aspects of wellness operation including personal training, group exercise, and the development of wellness programs.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes

team photographs.

  • Organizes and hosts season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
  • Organizes and conducts sports clinics.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation

in the program.

PREREQUISITES

Minimum Age:  21

Education:           BS or BA in a related field.

Certs/Licenses: CPR/AED and First Aid, personal training certification are preferred.

Experience:        3 years’ supervisory experience preferred.

Administrative Assistant

Assists the President/CEO and assigned executive staff by providing secretarial and high-level administrative support involving the use of discretion and independent judgment.

Job-Specific Functions

  • Manages the CEO’s schedule as well as schedules for assigned executive staff. Makes travel arrangements as necessary and prepares expense reports.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information in connection with the CEO’s responsibilities.
  • Answers all incoming calls to the CEO’s office.
  • Maintains highly confidential executive and Board files and correspondence.

Accounting Clerk

Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for working closely with the Chief Financial Officer in providing support and assistance in the daily functions of the Accounting Department.

Job-Specific Functions:

Functions for Finance Department

  • Maintains accurate vendor records in the accounting software and requests W-9 forms as needed.
  • Enter and balance accounts receivable and payable on a daily basis, ensuring adequate documentation and correct account coding.
  • Provides information of history of expenditures when requested.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors regarding credit card charges, payment discrepancies, refunds and miscellaneous charges.
  • Confirms payments have cleared the operating account in the accounting software.
  • Maintain orderly financial filing system.
  • Reconcile department accounts in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage invoice templates in the accounting software.
  • Maintains working relationship with vendors to ensure account statements are accurate.
  • Receive and review daily reports from family centers, ensuring that deposits and credit card amounts match reports.
  • Prepare and post deposits for all Corporate office receipts, i.e. checks that are received for events etc. and other miscellaneous payments.
  • Record journal entries for direct deposits and withdrawls to and from the bank account.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate fundraising donor records as needed.
  • Invoice corporate-level third parties and association sponsorships
  • Gather financial data for audits
  • Process mail and order supplies for the Corporate office.
  • Enter journal entries provided by CFO.
  • All other duties deemed necessary.

 

 

Minimum Age:       18

Education:             Associate’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of the Associate’s Degree.

Experience:    2 years of experience working in Accounts Payables, Receivables and Reconciliations. Proficient with Excel, Data Entry and Administrative duties.

Summer Day Camp Counselors

  • Prepare needed materials and supplies for each day’s activities and manage supplies within the framework of a budget.
  • Take responsibility for the continuous cleanliness of the day camp areas and the safety of all equipment used in the program.
  • Remain constantly alert for problems affecting the health and safety of all participants, including helping to ensure the established staff-to-child ratio. Report all safety and risk management problems and assist in correcting problems as they occur.
  • Follow all established procedures for field trips, ensuring that all participants are continuously accounted for, safe, and returned to the YMCA at the end of the trip.
  • Prepare health, behavioral, and incident reports (legibly and on the proper forms) as required, including health or safety issues concerning participants as they arrive for the program.
  • Complete and submit a written evaluation of the Summer Day Camp Program at the end of the season.
  • Attend required training within the timeframes set forth in the position’s training plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KidZone Childcare

We are hiring in our KidZone! We are looking for an energetic, positive individual to look after our Y kids while family works out. Applicants must be dependable, caring, love children and respond to their needs in a safe and effective manner.

Our child care programs provide a nurturing environment under the supervision of our qualified, professional staff.

Assure the KidZone area is clean, presentable, and clear of hazards at all times.

Lifeguards

Job-Specific Functions:

Responsible for the safety of the aquatic facility patrons and the prevention of accidents and aquatic incidents. Scan zone vigilantly using the 10 x 10 rule and perform rescues and life-saving techniques when needed.  Render first aid as needed throughout the facility.

Be inspection ready in staff uniform, with a whistle, rescue tube and strap in ready position, pocket mask and in the proper location for programming.

Respond to members’ inquiries and concerns.

Assist in maintaining the overall general care and cleanliness of the aquatic facility. Keep drains clean, gutter free of debris, pool bottom brushed, and overall deck cleanliness.

Inspect aquatic facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions and equipment.

Maintain and check water chemistry, daily weather conditions, and incidents and report to supervisor.

Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies in accordance with the emergency action plan (EAP), including whistle codes. Practice EAP regularly.  Understand specific responsibilities during a fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.

Complete all assigned records and reports.

Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

Get substitution for shifts when unavailable.

Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to swim 500 yards, tread water for at least two minutes using legs only, surface dive head first and feet first and swim underwater at least 15 feet.

Able to sit for extended periods of time including in an elevated chair.

Sight – Observe all assigned zones of the water area and be ready to perform rescues.

Hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment with background noise.

Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances, and communicate swiftly and effectively to emergency personnel over the phone and in person.

Personal Trainer for DeLand Family YMCA

We are looking for an energetic and fun Personal Trainer to join our DeLand Family YMCA team. This candidate must have good sales experience to build their own clientele. We are looking for someone who is able to create and implement Small Group Training classes along with the ability to gain one-on-one clientele.

Personal Trainer will lead a heart rate training program out of our DeLand branch. They need previous experience in PT and Small Group Training models. The candidate should have exceptional people skills and be able to command a room and group.

We accept AAPTE, ACTION, ACE, ASCM, ACEFITNESS, CACCa, IFPA, NSCA, NASM PT, NCCPT, NCSF, NESTA, NETA,NFPT, PTAG, CI, and W.I.T.S. certifications and CPR is a must.

Ormond Beach

 Youth Sports Official

The Ormond Beach Family YMCA has an opening in our Youth Sports department. We are looking for an energetic, positive individual that can referee all youth sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tee ball and specialty sports camps.

A perfect candidate is someone who is a great role model, provides excellent customer service and a positive atmosphere for all children to learn and become better athletes. This person would assist the Sports Supervisor with the promotion of all youth sports programs. Ensures that all sports equipment is in safe condition for play. Lifeguard

Job-Specific Functions:

Responsible for the safety of the aquatic facility patrons and the prevention of accidents and aquatic incidents. Scan zone vigilantly using the 10 x 10 rule and perform rescues and life-saving techniques when needed.  Render first aid as needed throughout the facility.

Be inspection ready in staff uniform, with a whistle, rescue tube and strap in ready position, pocket mask and in the proper location for programming.

Respond to members’ inquiries and concerns.

Assist in maintaining the overall general care and cleanliness of the aquatic facility. Keep drains clean, gutter free of debris, pool bottom brushed, and overall deck cleanliness.

Inspect aquatic facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions and equipment.

Maintain and check water chemistry, daily weather conditions, and incidents and report to supervisor.

Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies in accordance with the emergency action plan (EAP), including whistle codes. Practice EAP regularly.  Understand specific responsibilities during a fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.

Complete all assigned records and reports.

Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

Get substitution for shifts when unavailable.

Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to swim 500 yards, tread water for at least two minutes using legs only, surface dive head first and feet first and swim underwater at least 15 feet.

Able to sit for extended periods of time including in an elevated chair.

Sight – Observe all assigned zones of the water area and be ready to perform rescues.

Hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment with background noise.

Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances, and communicate swiftly and effectively to emergency personnel over the phone and in person.

Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguard rescue techniques.

An active and dedicated interest in creating a safe pool experience for all.

Strong verbal communication skills.

Energetic interpersonal skills with willingness and ability to build and retain relationships with a diversity of children, parents, members, guests, volunteers, and staff.

Knowledge of personal limitations and using other resources for relief and assistance.

After School Child Care Counselor 

We are looking for experienced child care counselors for our afterschool program.  Our After School Enrichment Program is part of the YMCA’s history of dedication to youth and children’s services. Established to meet the needs of working parents in the community while providing their children a fun, safe, enriching environment that would promote our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Port Orange

We are looking for a reliable, energetic individual to become our Sports Supervisor at our  Port Orange Family YMCA. The Sports Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, expanding and evaluating the specific adult and youth sports programs including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tee ball and specialty sports camps offered at the YMCA.

Job Specific Functions include:

Promotion, administration, and leadership in all sports programs.

Assist the Senior Program Director to make sports calendar, schedules, and rosters.

Coordinate locations for sports by building community relations.

Recruit, coach and train staff and volunteers.

Conduct volunteer coaches training.

Develop and implement program promotion and marketing.

Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is for youth and adult sports. Weeknights and weekends are expected. 25 hours per week @ $12 per hour.

Must be able to work outside and be in a natural environment that may require being in extreme weather conditions including heat and/or cold.

Youth Sports

The Port Orange Family YMCA has an opening in our Youth Sports department. We are looking for an energetic, positive individual that can referee all youth sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, tee ball and specialty sport camps.

Southeast Volusia

 

Wellness Center Staff

The Southeast Volusia (Edgewater) Family YMCA is looking for an energetic, positive person to work in our wellness department. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Wellness Staff is responsible for instructing and reinforcing proper strength training procedures and maintaining a safe workout environment for all members, participants, guests and staff.

The core functions of this position are:

To take personal responsibility for creating, building and enhancing relationships throughout the wellness area. To understand and instruct on the proper use of cardio and strength training equipment and free weights. Instruct members and guests in strength training principles, procedures and exercise techniques. Emphasize all components of wellness (warm-up, cardiovascular, strength, stretch, cool down). Promote the Wellness Center through personal example and member interaction. Constantly observe the Wellness Center to ensure proper use of the equipment and enforce rules and policies for safety of the members, including proper cleaning of equipment after individual use. Assure that the wellness areas are clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.

Prerequisites:

Minimum age 18, HS or equivalent, CPR/AED at time of hire, First Aid within 90 days of hire

This is a part-time position 20-25 hours per week and compensation starts at $8.50 per hour.

We are looking for someone who is able to create and implement Small Group Training classes along with the ability to gain one-on-one clientele.
